With an enviable natural environment and diverse experiences, the Gold Coast is one of Australia’s premier tourism destinations. Each year the city welcomes close to 13 million visitors from domestic and international markets including China, New Zealand, Japan, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
As a destination for travellers from all over the world, the Gold Coast's biggest edge is its stunning natural beauty. Visitors can experience 57 kilometres of coastline and 21,000 hectares of rainforest, as well as outstanding food and wine, quality accommodation, world-class shopping and a full calendar of exciting events.
The Gold Coast events industry is the largest of any city or region in Australia outside of the four major capital cities, and benefits from sport, business infrastructure and cultural entertainment. Events play a significant role in growing visitation; the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games presents an opportunity to create an exciting visitor experience and position the city as a global tourism leader.
